Breaking Barriers within oneself
Raj Bhowmik 723
As part of observing World AIDS Day, Soulbath Peace Foundation visited a local shelter home in Bangalore that houses HIV+ MOMs and their Children. The Raj Bhowmik Back To Society DREAM TEAM also participated in an awareness campaign organized by a city hospital to spread the impacts of the HIV on the human body and its spread over a period of years.
The interaction with the HIV+ MOMS comprised of them understanding and moving beyond the Victim Role as most women were in their 30s. The Children were exposed to a life that was comfortable but looked beyond their age with society still leaving ambiguous threads open when it was their age to play and go to school. The Raj Bhowmik Back To Society DREAM Initiative of engaging with HIV+ MOMs is to instill HOPE that they are included in our Society and we Care for them- It is to reach out to them a Hand of Hope & Opportunity & providing their children a next generation with factual answers to their condition and ways to restore wellbeing on an everyday level thus Being Human.

Dear Raj,
To begin with I must say that this was my very first visit to a community which shelters AIDS patients...I have read a lot about HIV+ & AIDS , and always felt that the social stigma attached to this disease is a sure pull back for some genuine help to reach this section of society afflicted with AIDS...
However, today, when face to face with the affected community, I could sense their fears, lack of trust & anger...It was evident in their body language, facial expressions, eyes & communication. More than social stigma I sensed their own inner imprisonment...They had build a barrier within where not even they themselves were allowed inside...The children were not children ..but a living thing waiting to die ...When the CORPORitual sprinkle happened , there were a few walls which broke down & more barriers broke when the moms & children mixed together at the end of the workshop & exchanged their feelings about Peace , Love & togetherness. It was obvious that these are the words which can move mountains... Hope in action was the thread which was focused upon in the workshop. It was really a different world which we entered ..It was a complete closed & fearful existence...RBBTS Dream did raise a few hopes in them in a very subtle but distinct way... Thank you for this platform which helped me enter a zone where all talk about but none dare to enter...Its was a massive , small world , which needed the CORPORitual sprinkling & it happened. Gratitude for making it possible ...work in such areas can happen only through CORPORitual...all else is just Lip Sympathy & a lot of talk..no action...
Thank You Raj , for giving an opportunity for living Hope in ACTION on World AIDS DAY !

Dear Raj,
I am really grateful to you for giving me the opportunity to be with a very special group of people on the World Aids Day. As I have already written to you before that I was keen to give back to the society I felt fortunate today for this opportunity and for having a platform to work.
When SPF invited me for this program I was not sure how I would feel when I met these people and I was skeptical. As we approached the place I was a bit anxious in spite of being a doctor and knowing in and out of the disease. The belief was with me and I was bit scared.
When we reached the place and began interaction I realized how helpless they were but felt fortunate enough to be healthy and fit. I realized how wrong I was and my belief that I couldn’t get close to them broke.
I could sense the apprehension, the anger and the resentment that was on their face. I also realized that they felt that we could never understand their situation and we can’t feel or realize how they felt but as the workshop began I could see that these women began to open up slowly and were open to my suggestions. As the CORPORitual workshop continued and they did the breathing exercise and the affirmations I could see fears in their eyes and also sense they were less guilty and out of the blaming mode. They also felt grateful to the place for having provided shelter and care which was not there before. When I saw the change in their emotions and their interactions I felt connected to them and in spite of such a deadly disease felt no barrier.
Most of all I felt gratitude for having been provided with an opportunity from Soulbath Peace Foundation to connect with them.

Dear Raj,
Today we went to a shelter home for as part of the Raj Bhowmik Back To Society DREAM on World AIDS Day. This trust is a home for HIV + moms and kids. I observed that the kids were very enclosed in them and were quite reluctant. We had asked them to draw posters about their house and none of them touched the paper for the first 20 minutes. After about 20 minutes they started drawing .They are very enclosed and secretive. They have many fears and are very isolated too. It is great feeling as part of being a RB-BTS DREAM Volunteer as we helped them come out and open their hearts.
Thank you Raj,
Prerna Bishayee.
