Workshop at Belgaum Sri Sambaragi School and PU College was a very new experience. The school teachers were kind and introduced their colleagues. Mr Sambaragi is a very simple and humble person - he discussed about the workshop in detail along with the Head Master RR Patil arranged for CORPORitual workshop for both teachers and students separately. A formal inauguration of the workshop and validictory function was arranged in the conference room (perhaps Chairman/ Head Master's Chamber), where the CORPORitual workshop for teachers was also held.
CORPORitual workshop was presented to 25 to 30 staff (teachers) of Sri Sambaragi School and PU College. With the introduction about Soulbath Peace Foundation, CORPORitual book was shown and a small introduction about Raj's. Our beloved Master Raj's picture was shown (behind the book), in an effort to set the flow for the workshop through the Master himself. The word CORPORitual took a few teachers to intellectual questioning as to why is the word corpo and ritual combined, and what is a corporate world and the similarities of it to a non-corporate village world. I translated a few quotes and stories from the book - especially the chief referee, tip of Mount Everest, Knife to nuclear and rat marathon captivated all of them (including my mother and fiance)- blessed I was that the workshop had a great start!
The book was passed on from individual to individual. Then on details about stress, recognizable & visible signs of stress in children, life scripts of stressful children, cause, effect & impact of stress on children and staff burn out due to stress were explained. A minimal detail about non-stressful signs (based on Psychology texts) were explained which need professional intervention. Teacher's role in a student's life was delineated. After which a small meditation followed by CORPORitual was explained step wise. Few teachers were smiling, few had a distorted face, a few were calm, had no reaction, tears dropped bountiful and even some tightened their body during meditation session. It was explained that CORPORitual is not new to this world - it was taught by rishis and in scriptures and by many masters in all ages in different ways. But, CORPORitual is one of the best adoption for the corporate era was stressed and sparing few minutes (from 2 min to 15 min to 30 min - depending on the schedule of the day) and practicing CORPORitual and making their students too go through this practice is the best way to de-stress and to lead a peaceful life was stressed upon as a conclusion note of CORPORitual workshop.
Teacher's Reflections:
* We did study about educational psychology in our B.Ed and TCH, but though it sounded similar, it was different and very effective.
* I actually felt the change and felt more charged and relaxed after the meditation. I will do it regularly.
* I do meditation everyday and have even taught my children at home. But, I will do this as I felt this has more purpose and is effective.
* I will join Yoga class and also teach yoga to our children on a weekly basis at school
* Head Master Mr RR Patil - We will introduce a meditation session for school children from now onwards either in the morning after prayer or before going back home in the evening.
Request : Mr. Sambargi, Head Master and a few teachers - we want this workshop even next year when SPF can arrange one for other new students to benefit from this.
The workshop for children was held separately for girls and boys. I did deviate, with request from the teachers to speak about exam preparation and exam fear to children as students were nearing their term exams . Girls were more receptive, where as boys were more critical and posed questions regarding exam preparation. Both the workshop went on very well and lasted 1 and a half hour to one hour 45 minutes each.
The workshop began with an introduction on Soulbath Peace Foundation and Sri Raj Bhowmik and the book was passed on to all students to look at the picture of Sri Raj and also to spread our Master Raj's essence directly to his audience. By interacting on a few life scripts (examples were given to which students had to tell the meaning and reasons for the life script) with students, I spoke on stress, cause and effect of stress (avoided impact) and how to overcome stress in students/children. A role play (which I could not demonstrate with the teachers) was held, where one girl spoke about her problems in various domains of her life to the other, who in turn reacted to each of it with confronting words. Backpack was thus explained and told how simple deep breathing would ease situations. A meditation followed by CORPORitual were the concluding part of the workshop.
Students' reaction to meditation
girls - I felt good and fresh. I will do it regularly and also make our siblings do it.
boys - it helped me relax though I had stomach problem. I did not want to come to the workshop but now I feel good, I liked it a lot.
A few did question as to why do they need to do CORPORitual meditation everyday, to which life and importance of living and living in the higher order with purpose for living was explained. To have peace and spread it, one has to first have it by forgiving, focusing on future, helping others & deriving satisfaction was further explained. The importance of breathing (with reference to the deep breathing to ease situation and meditation session) ended the workshop.
But, for me it was a very good learning. By explaining what I knew, I reinforced it further deeper inside. The internalization process which had begun long back in August 2011, all of a sudden saw a new depth - it was amazing. The same thing had happened when CORPORitual workshop was held earlier for teachers of Masagodu Chennamma School and to Jayanagar Below Poverty Line women. May be one day CORPORitual will be the breath of my life!
I thank Soulbath Peace Foundation for this beautiful opportunity. My Guru Raj made this happen and I am ever grateful to him. He is just the best ! I am sure everyone associated with Soulbath Peace Foundation (directly or indirectly) feel the same and are as much, and ever, thankful to Sri Raj Bhowmik, as I am, because being touched by His essence is life changing and life molding.. :)
